Los Angeles, CA, October 12th, 2015: DragonFire Digital Marketing brings #SocialGood to action at 22nd Annual Omega Youth Leadership Conference, this past Saturday, October 10, 2015 at The University of Southern California (USC). #TeamDragonFire was excited to participate in this conference that has touched the lives of over 5500 young men over the last twenty-one years, by volunteering their time to speak to parents and raise awareness for this great organization through an upcoming #socialmedia partnership.
Giving back to the community is one key tenant at the core of DragonFire’s #CompanyCulture. DragonFire’s President/ CEO, Demetrius D. Harris, was thrilled to get his team involved in supporting underprivileged youth in Los Angeles and giving back to an organization so meaningful to his own life (both as a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and as a single father of two young boys). As Demetrius says:
“I am honored to be a member of Omega Psi Phi and serve in the capacity of mentoring young African American boys, educating them on what it takes to become MEN! This issue is very dear to me because of my own experience of not having my father present in my life growing up. Nothing is more rewarding than watching the faces of these young men light up as we teach them things that no one has ever taken the time to teach them.”
The Omega Youth Leadership Conference (#YLC) was designed to focus on pertinent issues facing males. This includes Self Esteem, Goal Setting, Health & Wellness, Social & Personal responsibility, Family Unity, Academic Growth & Development, and Conflict Resolution. This conference continues to provoke our youth to think, achieve and be leaders. Activities and workshops at this conference include: The Importance of Education; Social Responsibility; The Protection and Respect of Womanhood; How to Tie a Necktie/ Dressing Professionally; Respect for Family/ Parents; Entrepreneurship/ Career Goals; Leadership; Financial Management. From mentor presentation by top ranking professionals, to techniques for college planning, these conferences for fathers, mothers, and the youth provide positive role models for manhood, sustainability & building leaders. It’s a reminder and display that parents and a community can teach the leaders of tomorrow and create change within a community.
